Opal Agnes Barton Masterson, 61, died at 10:30 AM Tuesday [March 23, 1971] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient since March 10. Born at Oxford, IN, she had resided in Lafayette most of her life. She was married to Earl Oliver Masterson on July 14, 1928 at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette; he survives.

Mrs. Masterson was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star, Hope Chapter 5.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Charles [Marjorie] Kirk of Battle Ground and Mrs. Carolyn Rayburn of Lafayette; three brothers, John Barton, Paul Barton, both of Clarks Hill, and Francis Burton of Lafayette; five sisters, Mrs. Louis Lowe, Mrs. Herman McCord, Mrs. Ralph Nelson, Mrs. Homer Hull, and Miss Clara Barton, all of Lafayette; and six grandchildren.
