Earl Oliver Masterson, 71, died at 5 AM Sunday [May 27, 1979] in Lafayette Home Hospital, following a nine-month illness. Born in Lafayette, he was a lifelong resident. He married Opal Agnes Barton on July 14, 1928 at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette; she died in 1971. On May 11, 1978, he married Elizabeth Edwards Easterbrook, who survives.

Mr. Masterson retired as supervisor in the electrical department of the Alcoa Aluminum Company in 1972, after 32 years of employment. He was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church, Tippecanoe Lodge F&AM 492, Merou Grotto, and Alcoa 25-Year Club. He was a 25-year member of Order of Eastern Star, Hope Chapter 5.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Charles) Miller of Lafayette and Marjorie (Mrs. Charles) Kirk of Rt. 1, Battle Ground; one stepdaughter, Ruthann (Mrs. M.) Friedman of Indianapolis; three stepsons, Jack Easterbrook of Santa Barbara, CA, Bill Easterbrook of Lafayette, and Donald Easterbrook of Bowling Brook, IL; a sister, Mildred (Mrs. Arthur) Powell of Lafayette; one brother, Harold Masterson, also of Lafayette; six grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
