A service was held today for John Alfred Tune, 78, of La Quinta. Mr. Tune died Tuesday in La Quinta. A resident of the Coachella Valley for 34 years, the Mississippi native is survived by his wife, Alvener; four sons, Willie Tune of La Quinta, Sherman Tune of Palm Springs, Davie Tune and Clayton Tune, both of Mississippi; six daughters, Lela Jones of La Quinta, Etheal Sumarell, Johnnie Dickerson, Myrtal Sumarell, Roberta Tune McComb and Avie Baker, all of Mississippi; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, all of Mississippi; and two brothers, both of Mississippi. The 2 p.m. service was held in the Fitz Henry Funeral Home chapel in Indio with burial in the Coachella Valley Cemetery.
