Phyllis (Harris) Borland aged 95 died on 12 February 2013 at The Leonardville Nursing Home.

A graveside memorial service was officiated by Rev James Byers on 13 February 2013 at the Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life ceremony will be officiated by the Rev Byers at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home Chapel on Friday February 15 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clay Center Presbyterian Ladies Group c/o of the funeral home.

Phyllis was raised in the Chester Community near Clifton Kansas and graduated from the Clifton High School. She worked in Clifton until she married (Paul) Russell Borland on 7 May 1941. They resided in the Ladysmith Community until moving to Clay Center in 1980. She was a farm wife who was active in the HDU and a leader in the local Four-H and other community activities.

Well known as an outstanding cook, who always brought home empty pans from any group event, which gave her great pride. Later she started her career as a very successful home business woman who would show her products at the local and state fairs. She did not give up her business license until age 90. When moving to town she became a member and leader in several organizations: The First Presbyterian Ladies Group, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Good Sam's Travel Club, the local Dexter Dolls social group, and she took great pride in setting many Election Boards.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Beryl, Arlo, and Thaine, who died as the result of wounds received in WWII.

Survivors include: sister Glendora; son Dennis and wife Kathleen of San Antonio TX; grandchild Jeffrey and wife Margaret and great grand children Brigid and William of Cheshire CT.
