He was born June 21, 1933 in Monroe County, KY to the late Alvy and Delphe (Rich) Howard. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a ladle repairman at International Harvester for 31 years, retiring in 1990. Cleston married Aurelia Yost on Dec. 8. 1963 and they divorced in 1970.
He is survived by 3 children: Daughter Donna (Jay) Wilson of Mays, IN, two sons: Gregory Howard of Indianapolis, IN and Geoffrey Howard of IN, four sisters: Juanita Scott and Dorothy Keys both of Tompkinsville, Nina Downing of Indianapolis, IN, Talega Doolin of Indianapolis, IN, 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by a long-term friend and companion Dorothy Moneymaker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers: Tim, John, James, Bobby and Jerry Howard and two sisters: Sylvia Walters and Saretha Curtis.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 21 at 1:30 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, Kentucky with burial to follow in the Gamaliel Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
Visitation will be after 10:30 AM on Thursday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.
