Brian P. (Lou) Wagner, 92, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM. His memorial service will be held at Fain Presbyterian Church at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 20, 2013 with Rev. David Crawford officiating. Graveside committal services will be held at Crestview Memorial Park preceding the memorial service under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Lou Wagner was born at home, May 28, 1920 in Dry Prong, Louisiana, of parents Bob and Daisy Wagner. He was the eighth-born of nine children, five boys and four girls. Early on he learned the value of hard work as he and his brothers and sisters applied themselves to help support this large family. The Great Depression was on and building.

After completing his public school education in Shreveport, Louisiana, he took a job in the aircraft industry in San Diego, California, before World War II broke out. Later he volunteered for the Air Corps. The enlistment was deferred until another day. He continued his work in the aircraft industry, waiting for a call-back, until he decided to get his college education. He enrolled in Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas. When the Air Corps found that he was in college, they encouraged him to finish school from which he graduated in 1947, in just over three years with a major in Petroleum Geology and a minor in Biology, all while working three jobs to support himself and his education.

He practiced Geology in Shreveport, Midland, Pampa and Wichita Falls with occasional excursions into Oklahoma, Kansas and South Dakota. During a dry spell in the industry, he sold insurance, and accepted a position with the City of Wichita Falls, thereafter re-entering the oil industry from which he retired in 1985.

Lou received his early Bible study in the Baptist Church, and he loved Sunday afternoons listening to his father and uncle discuss the Scriptures with the family gathered ‘round in the home. He married Betty Ruth McKinney in 1952 in Pampa, Texas and came to Wichita Falls to start married life. He loved his Fain Presbyterian Church and was ordained for life as a Deacon and Elder. He served in many capacities, Stewardship, Building and Grounds, Fellowship, picnic planning, Worship and Music, greeter and planner for ushers. He was honored by Fain congregation as Elder Emeritus on June 10, 2012.

Lou was a social person, especially enjoying his family and friends, his church, traveling, working in the yard, hunting, playing golf and participating in civic activities. He will always be remembered for his positive and optimistic attitude and bright smile.

Lou was predeceased by his parents, Daily and Bob, his brothers and sisters, Walter, Roy, Armon and Bill Wagner, and Elsie Carver, Florence Jones, Mabel Gallien and Clara Hudgens. He is survived by his wife Betty of the home and beloved nieces and nephews.

And to Hospice of Wichita Falls, we offer sincere thanks and deep appreciation for their tender ministry of comfort and care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice at 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310 or Fain Presbyterian Church Music Scholarship Fund, 2201 Speedway, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
