CENTRAL KENTUCKY NEWS JOURNAL OBITUARY – 01/20/1949
Funeral services for Joe Henry Nance, 75 years of age, were held Sunday, January 16 at 2:30 p.m. from the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with Rev. Harvey Morrison in charge. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Nance, son of the late Jessie H. & Frances Abshere Nance, was born in Taylor County November 7, 1873. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Richerson, Friday, January 14 [1949] at 1:45 a.m. He had been in ill health for the past 3 years. He professed faith in Christ in 1912 and was baptized. He was united in marriage to Miss Josephine E. Bottoms in July 1896. She preceded him in death in July 1943. To this union 4 sons and 4 daughters were born. Surviving: Lee Nance of Indiana; Mrs. William Peck of Iowa; Mrs. Harry Richerson and Henry Nance, both of Campbellsville. Besides children, he is survived by 5 sisters, Mrs. J. Harden Nance of Washington; Mrs. James H. Davis of West Virginia; Miss Eva Nance, Mrs. Edd Bright and Mrs. M.O. Thompson, all of this county; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Carl Davis, Fred Nance, Crum Burton, Luke Thompson, Jack Nance and Lloyd Bright.
