Bessie Mae Aaby, 88, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on April 17, 2003.

Bessie was born on October 8, 1914 to Henry and Lola Keithahn of Tenino, WA. She married George Aaby on February 5, 1943.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Alice (Jim) O'Kelly of Folson, CA, and Bonnnie (Emmett) Byrnes of Yakima, WA; two sons and their spouses, Jim (Donett) Aaby of Chappaqua, NY, and Pat (Sue) Aaby of Everett, WA; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Fraser of Oceanside, CA.

Bessie will be remembered for her avid letter writting and her passion for making memories through her scrapbooks. She co-wrote a four generational family history book with her cousin, Julian Keithahn. She was a master at baking cookies, cakes and pies and loved knitting, crocheting for her family and creating items for her church bazaar. She enjoyed the piano, collected bird ornaments for the family Christmas tree and played pinochle with her husband and their friends.

She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Auburn, WA where she had been active in the Woman's Society and spent several years as membership secretary.

The past five years, Bessie has lived in Everett. Her family would like to thank the Kim and Jay Jensen family, as well as their staff at the Jensen Adult Family Home for the loving care they provided to Bessie in her final years.

A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7th at the First United Methodist Church in Auburn.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Auburn, 100 "N" Street S.E., Auburn, WA 98002.
