John Henry Eliason, a longtime Shelton resident, died of cancer on Wednesday November 21, in Shelton. He was 83 and had lived in Shelton 82 years.
He was born July 6,1924 in Tenino to Etna( Keithahn) and John Eliason.
He graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in 1942 and attended the University of Alaska and Saint Martin’s College.
He served in navy 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Eliason married Jane Brant in 1954 in Vancouver.
He was a boom man for Simpson Timber Company for 30 years and a volunteer firefighter with Shelton Fire Department for 30 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. He was a member of the American Legion, Agate Grange, Mason County Historical Society, and National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife Jane Eliason of Shelton; daughters Faye Eliason Fischer of Shelton and Connie Conlin and husband Michael of Issaquah; grandsons John and Peter Conlin of Issaquah; and sister Mary Anderson of Vancouver.
He was preceded in death by daughter Peggy Eliason and sister June Thayer.
Interment will be in Tenino.
