Sylvia Hardwick Rice, 82, of Stanford died Monday at Ft. Logan Hospital in Stanford.
She was born May 1, 1929 in Casey County to the late Edd and Bonnie Jasper Hardwick. She was retired from Cowden Manufacturing as a seamstress, was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a member of the Lincoln County Senior Citizens. Sylvia was the widow of Harley Rice.
Survivors include her children, Charlie Rice (Beverly) of Centre, AL, Willie Rice (Sueann) of Stanford, KY, Billy Rice of Waynesburg, KY, Timothy Rice of Eubank, KY, Jack Rice (Kathy) of Ottenheim, KY, Elsie Cline (Archie) Martinsville, IN, Jean Phelphs of Somerset, KY and Jill Carter of Brooklyn, IN; a brother, Ollis Hardwick, Waynesburg; 4 sisters, Millie Liles, Ada Maggard, Lena Rice all of Ohio and Verna Reynolds of Waynesburg, KY; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Lee Rice, a brother, Denny Hardwick, 2 sisters, Marie Brown and Vina Rector.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 5 - 9 pm at Spurlon Funeral Home Chapel, funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday, Sept. 22 at Spurlin Funeral Home. Reverend Max Hester will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Stephen Wardlow, Thomas Ed Rector, Terry Lee Rice, Jonathan Rice, Timothy Rice, Billy Rice, Charlie Rice and Jack Rice; Honorary bearers will be Eula Graham, Maureen Walls, Marilyn Rector, Tammy Reynolds, Matt Smith and Kenny Catron.
