Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Bowles Robinson, age 86, were held Sunday, November 15, at 2 p.m., at the family residence. Rev. R. L. Sleamaker was in charge of the service assisted by Rev. Felix Sanders. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Floe Bowles, Virgie Bowles, Hayden Bowles, Jr., Ray Bowles, Melvin Janes and Harlan Beck. Honorary pallbearers were: George Crabtree, John Wolford, Gholson Wolford, H. C. Crabtree, Frank Dicken and Garlin Keltner. Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of the late Rev. John Bowles and Mrs. Emily Taylor Bowles. She was born in Taylor County September 13, 1867. Mrs. Robinson died at her home near Campbellsville, Friday, November 13, 1953, at 9:45 a.m. She professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Campbellsville Methodist Church. She united in marriage to Claborn A. Robinson, February 17, 1886. He preceded her December 24, 1943. To this union one son and one daughter were born. Surviving are Mrs. Willie Richerson of Taylor County. Besides daughter, she is survived by two granddaughters, Mrs. Buford Wilson and Miss Carrie Richerson, both of Taylor County. Two nieces and one nephew, Mrs. J. J. Barrett of San Angelo, Texas, Miss Annie Bowles of Bowling Green, and Hayden Bowles of Spurlington and many other relatives and friends. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, November 19, 1953
