Bobby M. Bowton, 70, of Harlingen, Texas, formerly of Farmington and Canton, died at 11:01 p.m. Friday, March 8, 1996, at Golden Palm Nursing Home in Harlingen.

Born Oct. 4, 1925, in Farmington to Lloyd and Felicia Haynes Bowton, he married Pearl Pauline Jones. He later married Lola Mae Bowton on Jan. 6, 1962, in Farmington. She died April 22, 1992. He then married Bonnie Brown. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Robert of Peoria; one daughter, Sondra Airola of Shanghai, China; four stepdaughters, Mary Baldauskas of Gardnerville, Nev., Deborah Test and Heidi Schiltz, both of Aurora, and Della Shaw of Queen City, Mo.; one sister, Betty Monari of Farmington; six grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren. One son, Bobby Neal, preceded him in death.

A member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club, he was a parts clerk at Caterpillar Inc. in Morton for 31 years, retiring in 1981. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Farmington Moose Lodge 1571 for 46 years and Farmington American Legion Post 140 for 49 years.

He also was a member of Tri-County Senior Citizens.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home. The Rev. Glen E. Edenburn will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Moose services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by his Moose lodge. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Sandi Jo Funk Hospice in Harlingen.
