Franklin Burroughs Nov. 21, 1923 ~ July 29, 2012 Resident of Alamo Frank passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the only child of Harry and Lulu Burroughs. Public schooled in Brooklyn, he graduated from Bates College, Maine in 1947. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he served as a Lt. (j.g.) aboard the LST 798 in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Frank became a special agent for the FBI in 1948. He enjoyed a 30 year career with the FBI in the San Francisco bay area. After retiring from the FBI he served as Director of Revenue Protection for eight years with PGE. He was also a licensed private investigator. Frank had three big loves in his life: his family, church and country. Frank was known for his sense of humor and gregarious nature. He enjoyed salmon fishing with family and friends on board his boats, aptly named the Viking. He had strong faith and was a life long member of the Lutheran Church. Frank is survived by his loving wife LaVerne of 64 years, their four children Bruce (Susan) Burroughs, David (Roberta) Burroughs, Carol (Brian Parish) Burroughs, and Janet Burroughs, three granddaughters, Sarah (Noah) Ceteras, Amy (Kyle) Beard and Katie (Scott) Medearis, and four great grandchildren, Jack, Hudson, Kendall and Emory. Frank is also survived by his cousin Janice Jenkins of Clemson, South Carolina and his sister-in-law Betty (John) Castles of Tupelo, Mississippi. Frank was preceded in death by his infant son Paul. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 6th, at 2:00 pm at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Orinda.
