Born in South Russia. Michael immigrated from Strassburg, Russia arriving in New York on May 19, 1892. He came with his wife Barbara and children Anton, Johannes, Franz, and Theresa. The family settled in Strasburg, Emmons County, North Dakota and had a farm there.

Michael was the younger brother of Albinus Schneider. Albinus was one of the first settlers of Strasburg, Emmons County, North Dakota. Albinus is buried at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Find A Grave Memorial #113031141.
