Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth "Beth" Harris Adcock, 94, of LaGrange, GA passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Florence Hand Nursing Home, LaGrange, GA. Mrs. Adcock was born July 1, 1918 in West Palm Beach, FL, daughter of the late Emerald J. Harris and Mary Alice Van Gundy Harris. She was a graduate of Palm Beach High School and was employed with Palm Beach Credit Union and Sears before retiring. Mrs. Adcock was an active church member and Sunday School teacher throughout her life. She attended First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, FL; Bowe Gardens Baptist Church, Eau Gallie, FL; First Baptist Church, Columbus, GA; and Union Baptist Church, Pine Mountain, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Adcock and a son, George R. "Butch" Adcock. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Beth Adams (John) of West Point, GA; brother, Richard L. Harris of Pittsfield, MA; three grandchildren, John B. Adams, III (Swann) of Columbia, SC, Alexia Adcock-Stanford (Richard) of Jacksonville, FL, and Ashley E. Adams of Birmingham, AL; six great-grandchildren, Erol Pierce, Xander Stanford, Luna Stanford, McCullough Adams, Thompson Adams, and Harper Adams; sister-in-law, Mary Dale Smith (Kirby) of Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Carl Adcock (Nell) of Atlanta, GA; two special friends, Harriett A. Gauger of Crawfordville, FL and Mary Burress of West Palm Beach, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life service to follow at 3:00 p.m in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA. Rev John B. Adams and Rev J. Barrett Owen will officiate. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev John B. Adams officiating. Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home will be in charge of graveside services. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Adcock. Arrangements are by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 and Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405.
