Delores E. Stenberg, 80, of Maddock, ND, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Heart of America Medical Center (Hospital) in Rugby.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 16, 2013, 10:30 AM at North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock, with Pastor Allen Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Maddock.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7pm at the Nelson Funeral Home in Maddock.

Delores Elaine Hvinden was born in South Viking Township, rural Maddock, ND, to Herman and Cecilia (Bergsgaard) Hvinden. She was raised there attending the Bergsgaard rural school and graduated in 1950 from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School in Maddock. Delores went on to further her education at St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1951. She returned to Maddock and began her nursing career at the old hospital and later worked at the new Maddock Memorial Hospital for 25 years until it closed in 1974 and became the Maddock Memorial Home. She worked there for several years until becoming employed at the Johnson Clinic in Rugby, working there for 14 years.

Delores and Donald Stenberg were married June 15, 1952 at Viking Lutheran Church. The couple owned and operated the S & H Service Station in Maddock for 32 years. Donald passed away April 27, 1986. She retired in 1990 and lived in her home until becoming a resident at the Maddock Memorial Home in September of 2008 and then moving to the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care at Rugby in August of 2010.

Delores was baptized at Viking Lutheran Church and confirmed there in 1946. Following her marriage to Donald, she became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Maddock and was active in the WELCA. Following the closing of Immanuel Lutheran, she became a member of North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock. Delores served on the board of the Maddock Memorial Home for 12 years, enjoyed gardening, caring for the lawn, volunteering at the Thrift Store and her dog, Cuddles.

Grateful for having shared in her life are a son and daughter-in-law: Dwight & Connie Stenberg of Maddock; a daughter and son-in-law: Dawn Marie & Teran Hermanson of Maddock; 3 grandchildren: Daniel (Rebecca) Hermanson, Bradley Hermanson and Cassie (Tyler) Dick; 2 great-grandchildren: Asher Mitchell Hermanson and Maria Beatrice Hermanson; a brother: Curtis (Lillian) Hvinden of Maddock; a sister-in-law: Margaret Stenberg of Minot; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her parents; husband; grandson: Mitchell Hermanson; great-grandson: Gabriel Hermanson; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Hvinden and Phyllis Clifton and brothers-in-law: Arland Stenberg and Arnold Clifton.
