Charley Lawson, a retired farmer of Campbellsville, died at the Green River Rest Home at Liberty at 3:15 p.m. Monday, December 7, after a long illness. He was 96 years of age. Funeral services were conducted in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Louis Lightfoot and Rev. W. C. Wood. Burial was in Brookside. Mr. Lawson was born in Hart County. He was married to Miss Elvira Handy in 1889 and she preceded him in death in 1894. To this union one son, Walter Lee, was born. He died at the age of 14. Some fifty-five years ago he was married to Miss Florence Burge, who died December 26, 1937. He is survived by the following children, William "Bud" Lawson and Mrs. Jessie Marple, both of Campbellsville, Mrs. Carl Porter and Mrs. Herman Lotter, both of Route 1, Finley; also 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Sapp, Alvin Rafferty, Thornton Gupton, Lee Eastridge, Aaron Pyles and Raymond Walters.
