Virginia (Grigsby) Schumaker was born on May 13, 1927 in Comanche County to Walter and Nettie Grigsby. After graduating from Comanche High School, she was married to Roy Adams and they resided in Comanche, Texas, until 1974.

She was a loving wife and a very devoted mother to her three sons. One of her greatest joys in her life was supporting her sons as she attended their sports and other events. She worked as a buyer for Dunlap's Department Store in Odessa, Texas. During this change in her life she was married to Charles Schumaker. They moved to Stephenville, Texas, where she worked for Anthony's Department Store. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially playing bingo with her friends. She loved serving others by doing practical things. She welcomed many visitors to her many home-cooked meals. She loved doing anything that included her children and grandchildren.
