Sarah was the eldest daughter of Joseph and Phoebe Wright Damrell. Family history says, she was a clean fanatic. Her house was always extremely immaculate and she worked very hard to keep it this way. She supposedly carried a pistol in her apron and was not to be trifled with. The 1900 census says she had 7 children, but only 5 living. Her children at that time were Mary, Lula, John, Pearl and Myrtle. There is a birth record in Indiana For a child born in 1897, but it must not have survivied. Why she was buried here is open to speculation, but there is a small unmarked stone to the right of her grave, that could be her sister, Margaret A. Damrell Collins. Her youngest child, Walter was born in 1908, Sarah would have been 42 years old at his birth.
