Shirley Lee (Hutson) Hilgardner, 78, of Gladstone, MO passed away peacefully Jan 26, 2013 in Liberty, MO. She was born Oct 29, 1934 in Rich Hill, MO to Beatrice Ruth (Merchant) Hutson and William Edwin Hutson. She graduated from Bonner Springs High School. She was hired Oct. 1952 by T.W.A. Airlines and retired from there after 46 years of service in 1999. During her career she met and married Fred C. Hilgardner on June 26, 1974 in KCMO and celebrated 33 years together. Fred and Shirley traveled all over the U.S. and Europe to Reunions for the 551stAirborne.
Shirley was a dance instructor for 10 years at LaFiesta Dance Studio in KCMO. She and her close friends, Fran Porter, Grace Roland, Sandra Rickman, and Monica Burris pursued quilting, oil painting, china painting, antiquing and shopping.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hilgardner; her parents; brother, Johnie Hutson; daughter, Lynne D. (Brown) Rivera; granddaughter, Shae Rivera.
She is survived by grandson, Callan Douglas Rivera; great grandson, Maxx Suter; sister-in-law, Mary Francis Hutson; nephews, Jim and Bea Hutson and Tom and Melody Hutson; niece, Susan and Tom Cannon; granddaughter, Necia and John Clohessy of Ireland; stepson, Fred and Tresa Hilgardner; step grandson, Daniel Hilgardner; niece, Kathaleen and Keith Hatch and dear friends, Laureen and Joel Hartnagel and Fran Porter.
