Larry Neill Jeffery, 79, of Desha died Wednesday at White River Medical Center.

Born January 4, 1934 in Mount Olive, Arkansas, he was the son of Henry Eugene and Ruby (Long) Jeffery.

He graduated from Lyon College and was a retired school teacher having taught at Concord, Batesville High School and Desha where he was the principal as well as a teacher and coach. He was commander of the Desha VFW. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Arkansas National Guard and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mount Olive.

He is survived by his son, Bryan Jeffery of Oxford; three step-grandchildren, Courtney Selph, Caleb Blevins and Chloe Blevins; brothers: Julian Jeffery of Desha, Will Jeffery of Huntsville, Max Jeffery of Pleasant Grove; sisters: Juanita Jeffery of Rolla, MO, Linda Jeffery-Burgett of North Little Rock, Katheryn Jeffery of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Carlile Jeffery; brothers: Jesse and Harry Jeffery; and a sister, Wanda Nell Jeffery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Jeffery, Rick Elumbaugh, Buddy Carlile, Keith Harmon, Eric Mohlke and Eddie Milsap. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Franks, Mel Hartman and Gary Edwards.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Alderbrook Cemetery with James Wheeler officiating.

Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
