Mrs. Sarah Jane Patterson Riggs died Sunday, December 8, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. Howard in Parma, at the age of seventy-five years, ten months and sixteen days.
Mrs. Riggs was born in Scott county January 22, 1860 and moved into this county while she was yet very young.
In 1882 she was married to John Riggs and to this union seven children were born.
She united with the Methodist Church forty-five years ago and lived up to her faith until her Lord called her away. For years she was a resident of Farrenburg.
Deceased leaves to mourn her loss two daughters. Mrs. Laura Martin and Mrs. Violet Howard, of Parma, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Black, of East Prairie, Mrs. Anna Batt, of Oklahoma, two brothers, Wes Patterson, of California, and John Patterson, of Arkansas, besides thirteen grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Carlisle, of Parma, after which she was laid to rest in the family lot in Farrenberg Cemetery by the side of her husband, who preceded her in death several years ago.
