C. W. "Chappie" Dixon was born May 8, 1900, in Raleigh to Otis and Eldine Cable Dixon. His siblings include Stella Smith of Raleigh, Roy of Springfield, Herbert of Raleigh, and one brother who preceded him in death.

He was married June 2, 1936, in Evansville, Ind., to Martha Henry. She survives.

Mr. Dixon was a retired employee of Sun Oil Co. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge 572 in Murphysboro, Jackson Country Club, AF&AM Lodge in Harrisburg, and the Consistory and Shrine in Terre Haute, Ind.

Mr. Dixon died at the age of 75 in Doctors Memorial Hospital in Carbondale after a long illness.
