Louis "Papa Ray" Sims
1932-2013

"Papa Ray" Sims passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013. He was a Ham operator for over 60 years. His call letters were K4IVD. Ray was a research chemist working at Armstrong and Reichhold Chemicals. He was a country DJ and a Christian radio station owner of WECM, Milton, FL. He also worked at WPFA, WXBM, and at the Atmore radio station. He had a band called "Ray's Carousels". He was also an emcee for many local events.

"Papa Ray" was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Eula Sims, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Shelia Sims; children, Winfred Sims (Charlotte), Patsy Carter (Robert), and Dale Sims (Sherry); stepsons (twins), Michael Pate (Tiffany) and James Pate; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Maureen Hadley; mother of his children, Daisy Long and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:00am at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
