George was born on May 22, 1928, to George and Dorothy (Cholo) Phillips in Roscommon, MI. He married Georgia (Fowler) Ellis on March 11th, 1947, and she survives. George was a W.W.II Veteran serving in the US Navy in the Pacific. George retired factory worker from Cerdens in Frankton.
He loved the outdoors, an avid fisherman and hunter. George even maintained a local deer rescue center and even had a free deer petting zoo for Elwood local children since 1992.
George is survived by:

3 Daughters - Marcia Cranor of Frankton, Tamara & (Earl) Savage of Elwood and Michelle Estelle of Marion
Son - Nicholas & (Vallee) Ellis of Elwood
Grandchildren: Stephen & (Kim) Huston, Shawn & ( Dawn) Huston, Heather & (Ed) Peavler, Dawn & (Marty) Young, Jason Ellis, Rachel Ellis, Jeremy Savage, Trevor Savage, Brandon Estelle, Jocelyn Estelle, Zoe Estelle, and Chelsea Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons George F. Ellis and Michael Ellis, daughter Cindy L. Ellis, grandson Tony Savage, 2 brothers Robert Ellis and George Philips, 2 sisters Virginia Osborn and Ruth Hoppes, 3 Step sisters Betty King, Fern Eubanks, and Juanita Detherage.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2013, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana, with Tom King, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Elwood Cemetery Association with full military honor guard services conducted by the US Navy and the Elwood VFW Post #5782 .
