He was the son of the Rev. John Samuel Huggins and Zilphia Ham. He was also a Blacksmith and a Confederate Soldier. CSA Enlisted as PVT. Co. C 3rd (Palmetto) Battalion, Lt. Art'y (Wilson Lt, Art'y). 1 Mar 1852 transferred to Co.E 3rd Palmetto Battalion(Yeadon Lt. Art'y). June 1862 appt. Ambulance Driver in Quartermaster's Dept.
