Several years ago Mrs. Simmons was thrown from a buggy and her hip dislocated and she had been an invalid ever since.
She leaves six children to mourn her loss.
Her occupation through life was school-teaching. She was an earnest and faithful worker in the cause of education.
She was for many years a member of the Johnsonville Methodist Church and her life was that of a consistent Christian.
She was a daughter of Rev. John Samuel Huggins and Zilphia Ham Huggins and the widow of Joseph Simmons, who was a captain in the Confederate Army.
The funeral services were held at Johnsonville Church the Sunday following her death, Rev. W. H. Harden officiating. Burial followed in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery.
