Stephanie was born December 23, 1966, the daughter of Robert C. and Betty Joan (Deere) Vass in Ft. Madison, Iowa. She attended Nauvoo-Colusa High School, graduating in 1985. She enjoyed walking and reading. On January 4, 1986, she was united in marriage to Richard Hale in Burnside. He preceded her in death in 2011.
