Elizabeth was married to Tarleton Bailey on Apr 18, 1841 in Tazewell, Tennessee and lived in Lee County, Virginia until 1852 when they relocated to Missouri. 1860 census records show the family living in Preston Township, Platte County and 1870 census records show them living in Lafayette Township, Clinton County. Elizabeth's parents, Dickerson and Sarah Hudson can also be found in the Missouri census records near the Baileys. One other daughter, Susan Mayse, came later.

After Elizabeth's husband died, most of the Bailey family moved to Kansas sometime around 1875. She bought land in Sheridan Township, Cowley County and paid the U.S Govt. $100 for the land and sold the land 18 February 1887 for $1400. Elizabeth and eight of her children, all married, made the land run to Oklahoma; Emma Wood, George Hudson Bailey, David M. Bailey, Eliza Hutcherson, Jacob Bailey, Margaret McCalib, Ancil T. Bailey and Jobe C. Bailey(step-son).

The 1890 Oklahoma territorial census shows Elizabeth living with her son George and his family in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma.

Kingfisher County Cemetery Book: Elizabeth Bailey buried in Hope Cemetery (SW corner, sec 33, T-20-N, R-7-W, Kingfisher County, OK, as of 1970 wooden marker showed listing Elizabeth.

A memorial stone for Elizabeth is located in the Hennessey Cemetery beside her son George's grave which reads:
