Jesus taught His disciples many things. One thing He emphasized was man's relationship with his fellowman.

The first thing that came to my mind when I learned that I was to have a part in this service was the words of Jesus when he said, ""(Matthew 25: 34-40)"" We only do service to the Lord by ministering to our fellowman. Surely all who knew Clint, knew him to be that kind of man. His deeds while in this life showed he cared and he did something about it.

He operated a grocery store for years and fed the hungry even when some had no money. I over heard another say just last night "When we first came to McDowell County, Mr. Simmons met and drove us to our destination, and he was always a good friend and neighbor."

He cared for the sick. While visiting this week with a man and his wife they said these words, " If it had not been for Clint Simmons taking our boy to Charlotte for an emergency operation he would have died."

He cared for the Lord's work. Years ago he and his good wife gave the first property for a church building which lead to the present church in which I serve.

This man was greatly loved by his family and friends. He was loved as a husband, a father, and a grandfather..as a friend and good neighbor to all who knew him.

To this family, you have my deep sympathy. I think the poet well said of this man, Clint Simmons, when he penned these words -

NIGHTFALL

Fold up the tent!
The sun is in the West.
To-morrow my untented soul will range
Among the blest.
And I am well content,
For what is sent, is sent,
And God knows best.

Fold up the tent,
And speed the parting guest!
The night draws on, though night and day are one
On this long quest.
This house was only lent
For my apprenticement--
What is, is best.

Fold up the tent!
Its slack ropes all undone,
Its pole all broken, and its cover rent,--
Its work is done.
But mine--tho' spoiled and spent
Mine earthly tenement--
Is but begun.

Fold up the tent!
Its tenant would be gone,
To fairer skies than mortal eyes
May look upon.
All that I loved has passed,
And left me at the last
Alone!--alone!

Fold up the tent!
Above the mountain's crest,
I hear a clear voice calling, calling clear,--
"To rest! To rest!"
And I am glad to go,
For the sweet oil is low,
And rest is best!
