GAINESBORO - Services for Maggie Burgess Birdwell, 82, of Gainesboro will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rash Cemetery in Jackson County.
Mrs. Birdwell died on Thursday, September 17, 1998, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born on July 30, 1916, in Jackson County to the late Jere and Celina Pippin Burgess.
Mrs. Birdwell was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Church of Christ in Jackson County. On April 17, 1937, she was married to Robert Birdwell.
In addition to her husband of more than 61 years, her family includes two sons, Bobby Birdwell of Cookeville and Jimmy Birdwell of Gainesboro; three daughters, Stella Anthony of Arkansas, Peggy Sullivan of Putnam County, Tennessee and Dorothy Jones of Jackson County, Tennessee; three brothers, Haskell, Willard and Edward Burgess, all of Putnam County, Tennessee; a sister, Edith Goodwin of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Earnest and Willie Birdwell; and three sisters, Cleo Fox, Nellie Chaffin and Minnie Lee Flatt.
Bros. Johnny W. Fox and Kenneth Anderson will officiate at the services.
