JERE M. BURGESS

August 5, 1882 ~ October 25, 1974


COOKEVILLE- Services were held Sunday in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home for Jere M. Burgess, 92, of Tennessee.

Johnnie Fox and Charles Burgess officiated at the services, and interment was in Cookeville City Cemetery.

Mr. Burgess, a retired employee of Tennessee Handle Company, passed away October 25, after an extended illness.

He was a native of Jackson County, Tennessee, and the son of Thomas Burgess and Lucinda Dockery Burgess.


He is survived by his wife Celina Pippin Burgess of Tennessee; three sons; Haskell, Edward Burgess and Willard Burgess of Tennessee;

four daughters, Mrs. Burton Fox,

Mrs. Olee Chaffin, and

Mrs. J.D. Goodwin, all of Tennessee and Mrs. Robert Birdwell Tennessee;

30 grandchildren,

48 great-grandchildren and a

great-great grandchild.
