Elias Curtis married Sarah Hutchinson about 1775.
He was a Revolutionary War private under Colonel Ira Allen. He had earned 3 day's pay in Oct 1780 and 9 day's pay in 1781. For 6 days he helped build Fort Fortitude in Bethel (payroll dated 25 Sep 1780) just before being taken captive in Royalton Raid 16 Oct 1780. (Goodrich, VT Rolls of the Sols in the Rev War, 1775-1783, p. 231, 459, 705) He was returned from captivity a year later, Nov 1781, along with 15 others held by the British from that Raid. In 1782 Tunbridge Proprietor's Records he was to build a sawmill and gristmill. His octagonal house had an upstairs meeting hall.

Lovejoy's "History of Royalton" vol2 , p. 736, includes his title as General. However, no supporting data to document this seems to be available.

children Elias Curtis Jr (4 Jul 1776 Norwich CT - 1856 WI, m 1)Abigail Clement 2) Anna Ladd Bingham); Abijah Curtis (4 Mar 1781 - 27 Jul 1847 m Ruhamah Allen); Polly Curtis (1785 Dorset VT- 28 Aug 1858 Dorset VT, m Elisha Petty). Although Polly's birthplace was given as Dorset, that may have been assumed & entered on dc but may be incorrect. There is also a Polly Curtis born in Tunbridge 1791 who married David Hutchinson and moved to Jericho VT. So she may be the correct daughter instead.

D.G.Hester (?), Washington Cilley & Abijah Putnam witnessed his 1827 will: Elias left portion to the State Bible Society and to the Tunbridge Congregational Church.
