Elaine Violet Andrews, age 88, of Altoona, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Elaine was born May 24, 1924, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Gunhild (Petersen) Dahlgren. She married Richard Andrews on May 3, 1947. She was a Girl Scout leader, was active in the Newcomers Club and Officer's Wives Club. Her hobbies included bowling, bridge, and gardening. She was an artist who loved sketching animals, but also had her radio designs produced in the 1940s. Music and dancing were always a part of her life, even recently dancing at the Thundermen's 50th reunion party. She loved her family, life, and laughter.
She is survived by her son, Scott (Aida); daughter, Natalie Andrews; grandchildren, Jason (Christy), Erin (Brian), Lori (Patrick), Andrew, Jaime (Patricia), and Javier; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joyce Andrews; further survived by other relatives and friends.
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and a grandson, Matthew.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Chaplain Steven Hurd will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of services.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
