Martha Jane Kenedy was the daughter of Benjamin Vanburn Hokit and Julia Ann Stephens.

She married Benjamin Franklin Kenedy on April 9, 1885, in Booneville, Logan County, Arkansas.

Together Martha and Ben had eight children: Icephena Elizabeth Kenedy, Ivah M. Kenedy, Effie Kenedy, Claude Kenedy, Lester Washington Kenedy, Ernest Wilson Kenedy, Estelle Pearl Kenedy and Opha M. Kenedy.
