Last Rites for James W. Melvin Were Held on January 13

Funeral services for James W. Woodford Melvin, 73, of Hopkins, were held January 13th in the Swanson-Price Chapel in Hopkins. The services were conducted by Rev. Neal Turnbaugh. Mr. Melvin died on January 11, 1982. The interment was at the Hopkins Cemetery.

James was born on December 2, 1908 in the Siam community, the son of James E. and Sarah E. Martin Melvin. He was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Inez of the home; two sons, Orville of Blockton, Iowa and Bill of Hopkins, Missouri. He is also survived by four daughters: Phyllis Ulmer of Hopkins; Evelyn Watts of Boise, Idaho; Helen Marriott of Clearmont; and Norma Wuester of Victoria, British Columbia; two brothers: Vern of Hopkins and John of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters: Susie Dillon of Blockton, Iowa and Mary Johnson of Gravity, Iowa; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
