Sherri Elizabeth (Luscher) Johnson, age 50, of Shreveport, LA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 26, 2013. She was born in Grand Rapids on May 2, 1962. As a teenager, Sherri was involved in 4-H, showing horses for many years. She attended Kent Skills Center in the commercial sewing program and graduated from Jenison High School in 1980. Sherri began working for General Motors, sewing, welding, and as quality control, following her job to Pontiac and then to Shreveport where she retired early. Returning to school, she attended Bossier Parish Community College's Culinary Arts School. Sherri worked as a pastry chef for Wine Country and the Dough Basket. Sherri dearly missed her husband, Kevin R. Johnson who passed away May 25, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her grandfather, Gordon Luscher; and uncle, Larry Snyder. She is survived by her parents, Lee and Mary Ann Luscher; grandmother, Dorothy G. Luscher; daughters, Amber, Kaylie, and Samantha; stepchildren, Kevin Jr., and Rachael; six grandchildren; siblings, Ann (Mark) Siuda, Lisa Boonstra, Walter (Leslie) Luscher; aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 AM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home and also from 10-11am on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held on Friday 8:30pm at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
