John J. Leonard, who served during World War II, died Saturday Dec 25, 1999 at the Life Care Center in Raynham after a lengthy illness. He was 80. He was the husband of the late Mary (Cordeiro) Leonard. A lifelong resident of Taunton, he worked as an oil burner technician for Southern Mass for 23 years and for Marvel Oil for 12 years before retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of World War II and attended St. Mary's Church in Taunton. He leaves one daughter, Elizabeth Mitchell of Batesville, Arkansas; two sons, Joel J. Leonard of Pawtucket and Dennis Leonard of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Margaret Westgate of Taunton and Janice Brindle of New Jersey; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Charles and Catherine (King) Leonard. His funeral will be held at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Taunton at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
