In Jackson, April 25, 1893, Caspar Hartmann, a native of Germany, aged about 41 years.
Deceased was an industrious and highly respected citizen, but had been for several months afflicted with that dreadful disease, consumption, which was the cause of his death. He leaves a widow and a large circle of relative and friends to mourn his loss. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery last Thursday morning.
The widow of Caspar, Mary (O’Neill) Hartmann did not remarry; the couple had no offspring. However, she was a trained nurse and established a sanitarium in San Jose to assist other victims of tuberculosis.
