James Robert Pemberton, 85, of Peoria passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1927, in Chicago to John and Ada Pemberton. He married Clara Elizabeth Paradee on June 25, 1948, in Pana, Ill. She survives, along with four children, Wanda (Ross) Schride of Washington, Ill., Diann Pemberton of Plainfield, Ill., Dennis Pemberton of Washington and James E. (Kathy) Pemberton of Pekin, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one half-brother and one grandchild.

James was a machine operator in the tool department for Caterpillar Tractor Company Inc., retiring in 1979. He was a member of UAW Local 974 in East Peoria. He was a Navy WWII veteran and had been a member of American Legion Limestone Post 979, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835 in Creve Coeur. He also had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Peoria.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
