ATKINS — Ulis Earl Halsted, 91, of Pottsville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born June 20, 1926, in Carnegie, Okla., son of the late George Mack and Tamar Western Halsted.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He loved to work on old tractors and automobiles, and could fix about anything that runs. He worked at several jobs, including his last at Conagra for 19 and-a-half years. He also was a cattle farmer which he loved. He was a devout Christian, loved his Bible, and spent lots of time reading and studying. He loved to go to church and was never late until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 12 siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Imogene Parks Halsted; children, Freddy Halsted and wife Rita, Ronnie Halsted and wife Judy, and Bonita and husband Kenny Johnson; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. David Harrison and Rev. Thomas Qualls officiating.

Burial is in Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Pallbearers are Ricky Pruitt, Bill Harmon, Matthew Pruitt, Wayne Halsted, Steven Halsted and Lloyd Duvall.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Montgomery, Earl Page and William Montgomery.
