Martha Jane Green Dies At Age 90
Martha Jane F. Green, 90, an early Utah and Idaho pioneer died Tuesday morning April 22, 1969 at the home of her daughter Mrs Lorenzo Walker, Afton of causes incident to age, after being ill for some time.
Funeral services are scheduled Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Manan, Idaho LDS Ward, with Counselor Milton J. Raymond conducting. Burial will be in the Ceder Buttes Cemetery, Annis, Idaho, with Schwab Mortuary of Afton in charge.
She was born May 20, 1878 at Beaver City, Utah, a daughter of Philo T. and Agnes Ann Patterson Farnsworth. She lived on a farm in Pine Creek, Utah, and her early youth was spent in Southern Utah. She attended school in Beaver thru the 8th grade, and attended BYU High School for a year. She taught school one winter, and then was a clerk in her brother's store until her marriage.
Jane was the only living daughter of her mother, although she had six living brothers.
On a trip to the Teton Basin in Idaho, she met Robert D. Green, and they were married June 25, 1902 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in the Teton Basin, later moving to Rexburg and then to Menan,, Idaho, where they lived until 1963 when they came to Afton to live with their daughter and husband, the Lorenzo Walkers.
She loved the gospel, and was a devoted worker in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, working for many years as president of the YWMIA in various wards and as Relief Society president. She also served as a counselor in the Rigby Stake YWMIA.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Robert Dennis Green, Terreton, Idaho; Mrs Lorenzo (Sarah) Walker, Afton, Wyo.; and Philo Austin Green Sacramento, Calif.
