Edgar's death certificate shows his father as Peter Jarnigan and his mother as Mandy Johnson. "Eggar," (at age 19) was living with his maternal grandparents, Nimrod P. Johnson and Annie Carolina (Truelove) Johnson. It appears to me that Edgar's father, Peter Jarnigan, married again about 1886 to a woman named Lela, as seen in the 1900 census. I have not found a death record for Edgar's mother, Mandy Johnson Jarnigan, nor do I know where she is buried. I ASSUME Mandy may have died giving birth to Edgar. ???? I would really like to find where Mandy (Amanda?)Jarnigan is buried.
Note to above writer. Edgar was born in 1881 and Amanda did not die until 1885. According to audio notes from his step brother (Nathan S Jarnigan), he was taken by his maternal grandparents to raise because the grandmother did not approve of Peter Jarnigan’s religious following and refused to leave him.
