Thomas, John R. Born at Melin Bodowyr, Llanidan, Anglesea, March 27, 1798. Both parents were drowned when he was 21 years old. May, 1827, he married Miss Elenor Pritchard, of Gearwen (sic, misprint for Gaerwen), Anglesea, and in 1831 removed to Liverpool, where he stayed twelve years, and where in 1837 he joined the C.M. church. He was a machinist by trade, and in 1843, removed to Crew (sic: = Crewe), to work in the shops of the London and N.W. Ry. Co. In 1850 he emigrated to near Cambria, Wis., and thence in 1866 to Mankato, Minn., where he died February 17, 1877. He was an honest, religious man and was very active in establishing the Welsh churches at Crew and Mankato.
