THOMAS P THOMAS DEAD
Pioneer Bricklayer Passed Away Yesterday Afternnon After Long Illness; Years a Resident.
Thomas P Thomas died late yesterday afternoon at one of the local hospitals after an illness of more than a year. He had been able to be about until a short time ago, but became much worse suddenly and was taken to the hospital where his death took place.
Mr. Thomas was born at Cambria, Wis. March 16, 1852. He came to Mankato in 1866 with his parents and has resided here ever since that time. He followed the trade of a bricklayer and worked at it for many years, and at the time of his death, was a member of the bricklayer's union.
Mr. Thomas was a devout member of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist church and took an active part in the work of the church, In 1894 he was licensed to preach in the Welsh churches and filled many pulpits after that time. He wrote he history for "History of the Welsh in Minnesota" and also furnished considerable other information for the book. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge.
The funeral will be held at the Welsh church at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and the interment will be made at the Minneopa cemetery,
He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Richard Hughes of this city and Mrs. William Jones of Paradena, Cal. He also leaves several nieces

HELD THE FUNERAL RITES dated January 29, 1913
Services Were Over the Remains of Thomas P Thomas at Welsh Calvinistic Church.
The funeral of the late Thomas P Thomas was held at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist church. Rev. W.E. Evans, pastor of the church was assisted by Rev. John B. Jones of Cambria and Rev. David Evans of Lake Crystal. A quartet composed of I.N. Griffith, Thomas Jones, Miss Catherine Jones and Mary Lloyd, accompanied on the organ by Miss Oelyn Evans, sand sever appropriate selections. The pallbearers were H.J. Roberts, T.M. Evans, R.F Jones, John Wigley and Peter Lloyd. The interment took place at Minneopa cemeters.
The bricklayers union and the Odd Fellows of which Mr. Thomas was a member attended the services in a body.
