William Reuben "W. R." Carter, a farmer of the Swan community, died Wednesday of last week at Lincoln County Hospital following a brief illness. He was 80 years old.

Services were Friday at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. William F. Shouse officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Carter was a native of Kelso and was a member of Swan Creek Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Cordia Lee Tribble Carter; two daughters, Mrs. William H. Bryant, Fayetteville, and Mrs. J. D. Bennett, Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Ida Lou Shofner, Shelbyville; and three grandchildren.
