McIntyre, Ralph aged 68, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 2, following a battle with lung cancer. A career musician and teacher, he enjoyed family friends and life to the fullest. After graduating from Thurston High School in Redford, he attended the University of Michigan's School of Music. He played French horn professionally for the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, the Livonia Symphony, the Dearborn Symphony, and countless other groups. He passed this boundless enthusiasm to hundreds of children, teaching elementary school band and in the classroom for over 30 years. He invested endless summers with family around many a camp fire, sowing memories of love in Michigan's deep forests, and teaching others to fish on the Great Lakes. He is survived by his wife, Merrily. They fell in love as teenagers at Interlochen National Music Camp near Traverse City and spent the next 45 years together. He is also survived by his son Tom, siblings Cynthia McIntyre Drolshagen and Diana McIntyre-O'Donnell.
