Mr. Joseph P. Coffey, 63 years of age, died Monday afternoon, November 13th, at his home near this city, following a lingering illness. Mr. Coffey was a native of Pellyton, Adair County, a successful farmer and a splendid citizen. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Coffey; one son, Henry; and one daughter, Mrs. Celestine White. A brother, S. L. Coffey, of Casey Creek, and a sister, Mrs. Ermine Jeffries, of Pellyton, also survive. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at Liberty church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. H. Gregory. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Gregory was assisted by Revs. E. P. Gast, L. E. Whitlow, and Alfred Erickson. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Alva McKinley, Willie Thomas, Johnnie Newton, James Pike, Sam Burress, and George Anderson.
