Connie Renee Alexander, 65, of Anderson, died January 31, 2013 , after an extended illness.

She was born on May 16, 1947 in Anderson, the daughter of Fred and Violet (Chestnut) Hill.

She graduated from Highland High School in 1965 and attended Ball State University.

Beginning in 1975, Connie worked for The Herald-Bulletin and its affiliates in Lebanon and Kokomo, retiring as advertising director in 2012. During her 37 years at the newspaper, Connie mentored many young people interested in a career in advertising. She was an active member with various social and civic organizations within the community.

She took pride in her home both inside and out. Her creative side showed with her landscape design with her backyard oasis where she loved to entertain family and friends with her latest recipe. She enjoyed cooking, and was an accomplished chef.

She loved the outdoors, golfing, and being a "beach bum" on her many trips to the Florida Gulf Coast. Connie was a dynamic lady and always knew how to bring out the best in people! She never met a stranger.

She was a caring and compassionate person to those who knew her. Despite all of her many accomplishments, she enjoyed being "Grammy" to her twin granddaughters. They were her pride and joy.

In addition to her mother, Violet Hill, survivors include her daughter, Robyn (Ahuna) Williams (husband, Chad); granddaughters, Avery and Madysen Smith; brother, Darrell Hill of Illinois,; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Hill.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.

Services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in East Maplewood Cemetery.
