He was raised in Rhea County and had lived in Hixson for many years. He was employed as a welder with Cannon Equipment in Chattanooga for 34 years.
Ray is survived by his wife of 34 years Ruby (Rothwell) Rice of Hixson, sons Chris Rice and Chad Rice, both of Chattanooga, two brothers Cecil Rice of Soddy Daisy and Archie Rice of Bledsoe County, four sisters Deanna Messimer, Betty Rice, Sissie Bunch and Evelyn Newell all of Dayton and two grandsons, Cody Rice and Logan Rice, both of Chattanooga.
Funeral services for Ray will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Cranmore Cove Cemetery.
